In 2014 the concept of a market to support local producers, artisans and crafters was discussed. It was thought that not only would this benefit local residents and businesses, but it would also provide an additional attraction for tourists to the region, and further promote our region throughout the world.
The Richmond Village Market is operated completely by volunteers, under the banner of the not-for-profit Richmond and Coal River Valley Promotions Group. The volunteers are all new to running a market, and appreciate your patience as they learn.
The market aims to support and stimulate the profitable trading, viability and growth of local independent producers, hobby farmers, community and home gardeners, associated artisan produce value-adders, local artists and entertainers. It also will provide locals and tourists with entertainment, regular supplies of fresh food, access to improved nutrition and will contribute to the economic, social and health capital of our community.
100% of proceeds from this market are spent directly on promoting our region.
The first market was held on January 17 2015, with subsequent markets everay.
The Market location is in the historic Richmond Town Hall and surrounds.
